Having had my CPU an AMD 955 BE(C2) for more than two years currently running at 3.92GHz @ 1.52V is it worth me getting an AMD 980 BE for around £130 and selling the AMD 955, as a cheap upgrade until Bulldozer settles down? I hear they overclock quite easy at 4.273GHz @ 1.45V.

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P, 955 BE(C2)@ 3.92GHz 1.52V, G. Skill RipsawsX 8GB DDR3-1600,
Geil Value 4GB DDR3-1600, ATI 5850 1GB(Crossfire), CM90 II Advanced, 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black,
4 HDDs, XFX 850W BE, Asus Xonar Essence STX, BlackGold HD DVB-T2, Dual Digital DVB-C.

So you want to sell your 955BE and spend say around £50 difference to buy a 980BE CPU to gain you an extra 350mhz'ish?

Does that not seem a bit crazy?

The way I am looking at it is I am at 1.52v, coming down to 1.42v will make my puter go from quiet to near silent plus remember it is a C2, not a C3.

a lot wont go above 3.8 well the earlier ones anyway.

also some people will say a 5 loop 5 min bench of something is stable where as someone will say a 24hr run of something is stable.

mine does 3.9 something stable early c2 but needs 1.5v so i just leave mine a 1.4v @ 3.7 24/7 as i dont think its worth the extra heat voltage for 200mhz.

Mine is an early C2 also and runs stable as a rock at 3.9 at 1.52v, even in this weather it only reaches 52C at load.
