AMD 9800X3D ETA OFFICIAL THREAD

I hope stock lands quickly and the scalpers have to sell at a loss.
it's funny (not really) because there are so many threads on reddit and some on here too where people claim scalping hasn't existed for years, same people claiming the new Nvidia cards will be fairly easy to hold of this year... then you look at this, the PS5 pro anniversary edition etc and you think "are these people ignorant to the real world or something??"

13:57...... arrived and installed .... Gold haribo for lunch
took me 6 hours... 6 HOURS to install. lol. mostly because I had 2 kids peering over me the entire time, one of which sneezed towards the computer the exact time I was installing the CPU. I almost dropped the smegging thing. it was insanely stressful. lol. All disinfected now.

Quicker than me, 7 hours with zero children distracting me...

I can't decide on one of these or a 9950x. I do a lot of production but also a lot of gaming. Help haha.
Kind of in the same boat as me there. I'll tell you what I did and why...and then you can do you :D
I went AMD because the Intel launch was disappointing and I didn't want to risk 13/14/15th gen quickly failing...and couldn't bring myself to splash out so much for a 12th gen.

I went 9800X3D because it satisfied the PCIE lanes requirements I had was great at gaming and quite good at productivity.
You'll get better productivity performance from a 9950X but at the cost of gaming performance.
You might get the best of both by waiting for the 12/16 core X3D but it's a bit of a wait (and I ran out of patience) and quite an unknown still. Essentially two CPUs on one wafer. Probably it has 3D cache on both CCDs. Probably it'll clock as well as the 9800. Maybe thread scheduling across CCDs won't now be a problem. Maybe it won't have latency issues with accessing cache on one CCD from the other.
Ultimately I didn't want to wait for yet another unknown and decided that productivity performance was (for me) going to be good enough. If you have to wait a few more seconds for something to complete, it's workable. If you have to wait a few more seconds for each frame to be drawn in a game.... it's really not.
Just my thoughts in case they're of any help to your situation.

Just a reminder to anyone that bought an MSI motherboard to go with this CPU, you get a free steamcode if you register on the MSI website through the "shoutout" promotion.
just got $20 which annoyingly was only 15 quid when converted to GBP. still... not to be sniffed at.

Not as good as some free haribo granted, but it's a free hentai undressing game or something if that's your bag. :p

Read earlier in the thread - if you pay with Amazon or Paypal, the payment takes longer than if you just pay directly with debit / credit card, so your order hits the warehouse later.
I ordered at 14:03 and paid with a credit card but no news yet, just wondering why people with 14:20 or later seem to have theirs already. Just trying to plan my weekend in expectation of receiving it! :)

Yes that is really good. They are slightly more expensive than some other options but have slightly better features, and this voucher makes up for the price difference. I think Steam games are better than Haribo most of the time. I guess it depends what you buy.

Ordered at 14:07, 14:10 confirmation email and just rang up CS - they said that it shows as "pending, out of stock", is that standard? Haven't had any dispatch emails or any updates since the confirmation email either...

I was only joking. While I love my tiny pack of haribo. 15 squids of steam vouchers is great!. more if you get a more expensive board. (I got the x870 tomahawk) think you can get like 20 for the carbon etc.
