AMD 9800X3D ETA OFFICIAL THREAD

Those of you who got yours installed, how are you finding it
Excellent. Stable, and boosting well.

One thing the reviewers don't talk about is the aspects of gaming outside of the game itself. Being a Linux gamer we have to have Vulkan Shaders compiled, and I don't have a shader cache on disk so my shaders need to be built every time I start some games.

The 9800X3D is so much faster at this than the 5800X3D!

Hogwarts Legacy, I used to start then go and make a coffee, come back, and it'll still take a couple of minutes to complete.
Now it's done before I can even make a coffee :D

Awesome can't wait to get mine in

How come? I thought the shader cache and distribution stuff via steam / proton was actually kind of better than the windows situation?
Oh it is.

I just have a slightly larger steam library than the average gamer.

I currently have 382 games installed, from a library of 1,684.

If I have the disk pre-cache on, it's over 100GB in size, and I just can't spare the space.

Maybe I should have less games installed at a time. Instead I just compile shaders on launch and throw CPU power at the problem :-)

You live an learn on Amazon pay, added ten mins to my order, there was me thinking it was quickest way
You should have seen the 4xxx series launch using Amazon pay and login. Luckily Gibbo and OCUK made sure I got a card.

Having said that like most people I waited till 2pm and I couldnt log in with Amazon. Miss the pre order cutoff time and then I had to order after I finish work which was 4 am the next morning so god knows when I will get a 9800x3d CPU.

Loving it.

Coming from a non x3d 5800 it's superb for emulation. An absolute beast. Playing Uncharted in rspc3 and getting pretty much a stable 60fps. Which obviously for pc gaming is low :) But for this title and emulating a PS3 it's just fantastic.
You'll find the AVX512 extensions help quite a bit with RSPC3 :-)

Made my order at 14:01, had Overclockers confirmation email at 14:12, and an Amazon Pay Confirmation email at 14:47, which itself says the payment time was 14:12. After calling Amazon to ask when the payment cleared, they told me 14:42 which is really disappointing if that’s when the order will have gone to the warehouse given I was likely one of the first to order, and wasn’t aware of any implications of using Amazon Pay when making the order. Really hoping that I’ll get my order in November, but I’m very close to the 14:45 cutoff that Gibbo mentioned. Overclockers phone support are not giving any info out in terms of when the order was received anymore due to an influx of calls asking about it.

Ahhhh here we go again - the endless wait and wondering :)

Order Date : 07.11.2024 14:06:07 (paid by debit card)
Order status: Order Confirmed

Ironically I did the "Oh I wonder what everyone else is selling this at" google search while I had the CPU in my basket - thankfully my big brain kicked in and shouted "Just order the damn thing" lol..

Selected next day delivery too... right now i'm just hoping it'll be this month...!

Fantastic - went from 7800x3D to 9800x3D and seen huge gains in Tarkov.
