Apologies if previously stated.
I think if queue positions would not be possible to implement, then maybe a feature such as status of 'order received at warehouse' would help clarify.
For example, I ordered at 14:06 and had an order status 'confirmed' at that time. However, I paid by finance and that was completed at 14:12 and so that would be a more accurate order time.
As seen previously in the thread, payment methods have effects on when the warehouse receive the time of order, and so my finance option may have processed (to the warehouse) at an example time of ~15:30. So my accurate order time would be ~15:30, very different to 14:06. When to expect the order to be dispatched is unclear

At this point I just give up and let it be surprise to me whenever it comes whether it is next week or end of December.. I placed my order at 14:00:33, but since I am paying with finance, I dont even want to know how long it would've taken OC to receive the money. Shame, as i have whole PC in the basket ready to be shipped bu the CPU. Some priority to people with more items in the basket should be given

Yeah lesson learned from me as well paid by PayPal order confirmed at 14:21 and PayPal recieved at 14:22

Mine paid by AMEX at 14:17… fingers crossed for this week. I have ordered one elsewhere, same method, and latest I have from them is it’s due to dispatch Tuesday so we’ll see. Plan to cancel which ever one takes longest, failing that I may end up with two

Yes too early yet, once the batch expected today arrives, I shall update, but it has upto 6pm to arrive here, hopefully will be earlier than that.

Definitely not BACS Direct Debit.... that thing has a 3 day clearance cycle and is for a merchant to pull funds for regular bills and such. I think you probably mean making a card payment from a debit card? Which is a very different thing - and not really meaningfully different from a credit card transaction, so I'd just stick to calling it a "card payment" or "card transaction" or something as otherwise it's confusing

I don't think this specific issue should be a problem. I had the same worry (I bought a motherboard alongside the CPU which then very quickly went pre-order presumably due to a bunch of other people ordering one as well), and the motherboard was allocated to my order and my CPU + motherboard shipped as soon as the CPU came into stock on Friday.
Like I said, its irrational
