AMD 9800X3D ETA OFFICIAL THREAD

If it was in stock at the time of your order, it should be reserved, no?
No when I ordered the board was on preorder, so my chip won’t ship until the whole order is complete, I ordered at 1422 so my chip should be sitting waiting now, ready to be dispatched when the board comes in.

If they are coming from Youtube, yeah, but overall in multitasking should be better due 8 extra cores.

Personally, I upgrade from 5950x which is a solid CPU to 9800x3D due more demanding games such as "Escape from Tarkov". Thst is my current main game.

Going up from 32 gigs cl16 3600mhz ddr4 to 64gb cl30 6000mhz.

Unfortunately due work I wasn't able to get 9800x3d first minutes and got it 1hr later.

I hope the almighty @Gibbo will come with good news and hopefully to send my CPU soon.

Either way, is either this week or next or similar.

Order time 15.02 confirmed 2 minutes later through Amazon pay.
Yeah it's crazy tbh, I'm looking to upgrade from a 7900X, was hoping I could skip a gen but games these days are absolutely being bottlenecked with DLSS/framegen on, I think hardwareunboxed did a benchmark on this.

I ordered around 11am on the 8th - does that mean I am to expect roughly mid december eta, or later? I have tried searching through the thread but there are a lot of pages to go through

I understand its not super simple and OC are at the mercy of the distributor, I am just trying to gauge how long I can wait out on purchasing other components, thanks

Can someone please explain me why this has happened? If AMD decided that the item is available for purchase on 7th of November, I am sure they would've shipped a certain amount to sellers to be ready for day one dispatch. Lets say AMD sent you total of 2000 units which should have been held at your warehouse in UK ready to be shipped for all 2000 buyers that placed the order, anything above this number, should've become a pre-order until you get more units from AMD. No way AMD sent this item to yourselves last minute before release date which then got stuck in customs. For example, I pre-ordered new iphone and got it delivered same morning when it become available for purchase.

It’s a cpu, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get it on release day, Christ almighty it’s not as if you need the thing to keep your heart beating.

Eh, what if previous system was sold to buy this so there's no computer till it arrives.
I'd think most of us would be a bit put out by not having our PC working...

Don't think there's quite need to be pushing back so hard.

Equally - it's a new release, this sort of thing happens with basically everything (except, sure, for some reason, Apple Phones). While it sucks, if you were relying on perfect availability from day 1, that was probably setting your expectations rather too high.

Sorry if this was asked before, apparently I can't search through the thread (or I didn't figure out how).

I managed to snag one in the third batch, estimated to arrive "in December". Does anyone has any clue as to when I can realistically expect it to arrive?

They generally go through multiple distributor’s which is probably why stock arrives in batches at different times.

As Joxeon mentioned above resellers get them from distributors, i think there are 3 in the uK. This is why they arrive in batches as teh different Distibutors receive them. Also as noted earlier in the thread the original batch was delayed in UK customs courtsey of Brexit. OCUK have no reson to lie to you about the original batch being stuck in customs and i do not think you inferring that they did wil help you get your new toy any quicker. This is not an unusual situation for PC components (extremely limited lasunch stock / pre orders). Just be patient and you will get your CPU soon i am sure

As an example look at the amount of motherboards that are on pre order witrh very limited stock arriving or being delayed, heck i am not sure i have seen a X870e Master in stock yet, Crosshair Hero hsa been on pre order multiple times, Godlike delayed by 2 weeks elsewhere and Gigabyte xtreme not even listed in most places yet.

Hi there

As mentioned last week, we are expecting 150 this week, most likely tomorrow or Wednesday. :)

When they land I shall post in this thread.

Due to issues over weekend with the CPU putting pre-order back up, the only fix so far is to totally remove the processor from the website, hence why its no longer listed at all.
I assume those of us who managed to order over the weekend will have our orders honoured and just added to the back of the queue?

Is it likely to be a new year delivery?

Don't let anyone put you off. Customer service is there to help the customer. Your order confirmation time is 14:04pm and that should put you firmly in batch 1. I got my order confirmed at 14:30pm and already received my order even though I picked RM.

If I were in your shoes, I would absolutely call CS to enquire how and why you haven't received your order, especially since I know people with confirmation times 45 mins after your confirmation time have received theirs.
thanks, I haven’t had time today but I will call them tomorrow

Heh I was at work when the pre order went live. try to used my work phone at 2.00pm to pre order but it didn;t have my logon details and what not. Didn't realise there was a second pre order and didn;t get a chance to order till 4am in the morning. Currently from what I read so far they are currently sifting though the orders that are like around the 2.40pm ish onwards mark with many of the ones before it fulfilled I guess. When will yours and mine be filled?

I would hopefully wish before the post shuts down for xmas and new year. If it doesn't arrive by then, then I expect at least one week after new years as traditionally post is nasty after the Xmas/New Year shutdown. Now I understand that may be too long for some people especially as It was annouced on the 7th. But my Logic is well at least around the end of Jan they might release the 9950x3D and 5090.

And as much as I want the 9800x3D to arrive as soon as possible it doesn't compare to how much I want the 5090.

I even heard rumors that the 9950x3d could be better this time round for gaming too
I don't know too much about x3D topology. I have read about it regarding the 7900X3D and 7950X3D and then stuff like latency, core parking etc. That while the productivity side was better than the 7800X3D for the price the gaming aspect was dissappointing.

From my point of view it looked decent. If AMD have learnt from the 7xxx series maybe they can implement it in a better way. I am very new to AMD chips as the last one I had was the 5950X and I loved that chip. When Jan come around I will get one in to have a tinker with it. Hopefully it will be easier to get hold of than the 9800x3d.

So I rang overclockers about my 14:03 order. Turns out they didn’t get the payment until the next day from paypal :( looks like it’ll be late december for me.
Never use PayPal is rule number one when trying to get an order through as quickly as possible in order to secure stock of a highly sought after product.

PayPal is for buying from dodgy UK tech retailers outside of the top three big names (OcuK + two others) for when you need to raise a dispute to get a refund. :p
