does anyone know of any amd 990fx boards that have a water block for them??? undecided what mobo to get and looking for something dark that supports a waterblock othe that the crosshair. i know the gigabyte ud7 supports them however i refuse to pay that sort of money for a motheboard

I know, i know!

I have many AMD rigs and love watercooling, especially VRMs and such.

Unfortunately the few blocks vailable are mostly now end of life. The UD7 and Crosshair formula-Z has a block for each but both are end of life and will have to be found via second hand markets. I have just replaced one of my Crosshair Formula-z boards with a block for a different socket, cpu combo (for a z87 OC and blocks). There is one or two sold by heatkiller (or was) but tbh they are generic VRM blocks with different cut copper sheets screwed onto them and imo they dont look very nice compare to their other blocks or any of EKs blocks.

Best bet is second hand markets. Shame you don't have access to MM cause i have the Crosshair and block on there. Unfortunately due to the expense of watercooling, you rarely find people interested in AMD mobo blocks, so probably by the time you have access, itl still be there. lol

To be honest there were only a few boards which have had blocks made for them and EK has EOL all of AM3+ blocks. The ud7 and the CHVF-Z were your best bets but brand new they are the most expensive boards and the blocks were £80+ each too when they were for sale.

MM is the members market, private selling for this forum. I think requirements are 6 months and 1000 posts.

Mobo blocks offer little gain (in terms of performance) as intel sockets dont struggle with VRM heat. AM3+ boards with blocks available to them are probably the only boards which would have no problem keeping the VRMs cool with no air flow at all, even paired with a 5Ghz 8 core ( as these boards are the best of the best of AM3+)

thnx how are the yate loon fans compared to them as i have some of them spare but looking to do everythin correctly this time around. also is there any benefit to push/pull over either push or pull

if you choose the right fan rad combo, no benefit really. Maybe slightly less noise because you can turn down each fan compare to a single one but going by that logic, it would be better to spend the cash on more radiator for the loop.

Which yate loons?

Think they are ds12l would that be right??? I was advised yesterday to get the ek 360 pe rad. One more thing does res size matter? I quite like the look of the 80mm tube res but I'm thinking that may make it a little awkward to fill the system initially
