AMD A10 5800k APU

Yeah. Ideally. i3, 7850 2GB, 8GB. I understand your budget is tight, so you can go with a 7750, 7770 even, and get a good base for further upgrades.
Personally I wouldn't really bother with 7750 or 7770 new...I think it's either 7850, or just drop all the way down to a 2nd hand 5850/6850/GTX460 1GB, as they are still a bit faster than the 7770, and around £40 cheaper.

sure, and there are plenty around.

Leaves you with something like this,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £89.99
1 x Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £69.98
1 x Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black £49.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK) £49.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD £47.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01) £39.95
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £377.48 (includes shipping : £10.50).

which will be a direct path to a 3570K and 7950 upgrade, with say, a 5850.

OP need mini-itx board though (he already has the case - refer to his post at 16). You could alter your list a bit for him with a Z77 mini-itx board (I suggested that Z77 Gigabyte mini-itx board as it is only £89.99...a good £30-£50 cheaper than the others that can overvolt and overclock higher).

As money will be tight, does the i3 have built in graphics? Won't be able to afford a GPU if I go for Intel, until well after the builds finished.

Oh I will be getting the graphics card, im just making sure I can do some light gaming on some free to play's etc etc, until then. Thanks for the help, my mind is totally boggled with what to do and what to plan to buy etc etc. Seems to get more and more expensive each day, especially now that im going down the i3 route, however this seems to be a decent CPU and the build will be good. :)

If you can find a good GPU for £50, and are willing to upgrade later, then that would be my choice.

It is a bit of an unfortunate budget. £300, you would definitely go A10, £500, and you are pretty safe for a 7850 2GB + i3.

£400, the A10 leaves you in a bit of a hole, and it's not quite enough for a i3. 'but', a 6850 / 5850 (which is actually a faster card, but not DX11) or a GTX470 / GTX560, will yield better performance than a A10 or even a HD7770, especially at 1080p.

As for the build I posted, there is room for cheaper components (mainly, case), while still leaving you room for a high performance gaming rig later.

Yea...as much as I think many of us would be interested in building a budget system based on the Trinity...not having the graphic grunt for 1920 res gaming is too big a door slam in the face to ignore. Hope AMD would get there with their next gen Trinity...and some more IPC improvement on the CPU side would be welcomed too.
