I'm basically building a budget system for my gf and was wondering if it's capable of playing games like sims 3 etc on medium detail?

Also what are the overclocking abilities of these chips?

If you are looking to use the onboard GPU then I'd really recommend going for the A8 series. However older games such as Sims 3 should run fine on an A6, and if you are putting in a discrete graphics card then yeh it definately will.

That chip should be able to play the likes of Sim 3 etc on medium details, there aren't many overclock results, the A10 part looks to get a decent 20% on the IGP though (Probably won't be the same on the A6) and around 4.4-4.6GHZ on the CPU, you'd probably find 4-4.2GHZ easily attainable on the 5400k I'd hope.

Although I agree with the previous poster, I'd get the A8 for the extra 20 quid, if it was going with a discrete card (Which I doubt by the tone of your OP) I'd go G620 over the A6.

It has to cost as little as possible, im outta cash but her bf is coming up and i want to finish this little project for her so she doesn't have to lay in bed with her laptop all the time.

I have the memory already, just missing a board and a cpu which is why i picked the APU series for it's integrated gpu but i have no clue which one to go for that will at least play some games on medium detail.

So you say the A8 series would be better.. which one in particular though?

And i just realised the A6 was a dual core lol, i think at this day and age a quad core is a must... so which A8 to go for?

cheers for that

What gpu's would go with this if i was to go hybrid crossfire in the future?

My sister was playing Sims 3 with no problems on a quad core Athlon II and a 5670. I would imagine an A8 being around the same.
