Gashman said:im not sure if AMD keeping ATI name or merging completely into one company keeping the AMD name, as well X700 weren't bad cards when they were out, 8 pipe, 6 vertex cards with decent core speeds, plus the XT (i think they were XTs) versions clocked even faster i used to have one with my overclocked celeron D![]()
agreed, if ATI do change their name, then i don't think there will be much difference other than a name change.Tute said:I think in the long run the end user will notice very little change.
Think about it. Why would nVidia or Intel want to alienate AMD or ATi over all this? nVidia's best selling chipsets are for AMD processors, it would be a very silly idea financially if they upset AMD.
Likewise for Intel. ATi have made, and will still make, chipsets for Intel processors. Intel will gain nothing from cutting ATi out, if anything they will lose money over it.
I expect it will be business as usual for all 4 companies.
