AMD AGESA 1.0.8.0 due, medium CPU Security threat fix

One of the news sites I read said this fix would lower branch prediction performance by 90%. So I'd wait to see what real world performance impact there is

The 90% perf hit was from 1 particular mitigation method of flushing the branch predictor after every context switch.
However, AMD are proposing a different fix which will have much lower performance overhead.

Right so all of the performance, its back to 2003 for you my friend.... obvious click bait.

If we look at where the performance of AMD/Intel top end CPUs are now, and remove ALL mitigations since these major ones have been revealed, how much extra performance would we have? 5800X like a 7800X? 7800X like an 8800X? 13900K like a 15900k?

It's starting to feel awfully convenient for theses businesses to have these 'unfortunate' performance gimping security problems occur mid-cycle so that when new ones come out the reviews look more favourable assuming the reviewers aren't doing their jobs very well...
