HI there

All Athlon 64 and X2 AM2 processors have now been dropped to their official new AMD price drop prices at OcUK.

We have some little stock now with remainder of stock arriving Monday next week which is when all backorders will ship.

Its worth waiting a week as the savings are huge and does seriously make the CPU's great prices! :)

Thx Gibbo ill be ordering mine when u get stock on monday,

X2 3800's are in stock now, it says pre-order because we have less than 10 left but a few hundred more arrive on Monday next week. :)

Gibbo as far as I can see there arn't any price cuts on the actual product pages. the AM2 3800 is still showing as £211 inc and the this week only 3800 is still £164 inc.

Sorry for the double post.

Just thought of another question! Is it only the AM2 X2's that will be getting a price cut? The news item doesn't say anything about 939 X2's which is a shame as it would be a great upgrade to so many of us here.

They are dropping but were struggling to source any stock so as predicted there maybe no product left available to actually buy at the lower prices. I shall keep on searching and as soon as we get cheaper product in our stock will average down and as such prices will drop.

AMD has moved all production to AM2 now so finding S939 is proving difficult.

the ones on pre-order look to be the ones that have had their prices cut, ive highlighted them in green, the red ones are still at their old values i presume?

ive also made a list of the 939 socket ones for a comparative

also, i wonder what happened to the 4400, it seems all the 1mb cache chips arent being sold anymore? under both the 939 and the AM2 sockets... can anyone explain why?

Damn and blast, cheers for the update Gibbo. If I'm going to have to get new RAM and motherboard anyway I might as well just switch to a 6300 Core 2 for £20 more.

im of the same thought aswell, if i will inevitably have to change the motherboard and ram to cope with AM2, for a cheaper "cpu" upgrade, then i might aswell go the full hog and get a Conroe compatible motherboard and ram. the X2 prices would need to drop further by AMD for me to consider AM2 route over Conroe route. :)

I assume the 1MB cache parts arn't getting a price cut as they are being phased out.

Hi there

This is correct as the X2 4400 and 4800 are now end of life and as such no price drop and no longer in production on both S939 and AM2.

AMD will release newer X2's soon with 1MB cache.......

I just worked it out. Getting the cheapest motherboard and 1GB of Geil DDR2 the Conroe only costs £10 more than the 3800X2 upgrade. No contest.

i dont think anyone cares about AM2...as said if they are gona go AM2 then they might as well go conroe

gibbo find those 939 X2's at the lower price!

Yeah tbh i was expecting the 3800 x2 with vat to be less that £100 no way they worth the money.

am now stuck between a rock and a hard place. I want to go AM2 but Conroe seems just as good at the same cost. But then again i want to wait untill quad core hits the market.

I think its gonne be the cheap and cheerful S939 approach untill quad core.
