Hi,

I'm looking to swap out a faulty motherboard from a desktop PC belonging to a relative. Its an HP 5200UK type and has an M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard with an Athlon II X2 220 CPU sat in it. Looking at inexpensive replacement boards and I'm getting a little confused. Does the board need to specifically be an AM3 type or can I use a board listed as an AM3+? Some boards I've looked at are listed as 'AM3+' but in the specifications they list the Athlon II X2 as one of the CPU types which will fit?

Any advice appreciated, I've not dealth with AMD kit for years, its usually Intel stuff I deal with so my knowledge of the subject is a bit rusty to say the least!

Thanks chaps. Seems like there are plenty of AM3+ boards out there which are happy with an AM3 being fitted. I'll have a look and see whats on offer, looking to spend about £30-£40 as the PC in question only sees light use.
