AMD AM5 with hdmi 2.1 help

Hi all

Just a couple of questions. Do all AMD AM5 motherboards come with HDMI 2.1 outputs as I am going to buy a 7600x with built in gfx and wanted to make sure on that spec as I will be using it a lot for 4k playback and gaming in the future.

And what a good priced board.

It's always best to check the motherboard manufacturers website to be sure, I just quickly checked the asrock b650 riptide and it's HDMI 2.1.

I looked up the Asus website and they just say hdmi they don’t seem to post the version they do with display port and usb unless I am not looking in the right place. But cheers for the post.

Did not know all 7000 cpu come with gfx. Are they all vega 8 ? As the older 5700g was vega 8 I think well one of them not sure if these have better build in gfx

I believe it's RDNA 2 architecture It offers only 2 CUs its basically to get you up and running but seen low detail gaming at 720p.

Would email Asus to check.

The 2 CU's on the IGPU of the 7xxx CPU's are just basic graphics funcionality. They really are not designed for gaming use (Although you can play low demand titles at low res and settings). You will however be able to use the onboard output for 4K streaming and playback.
There will be a new Generation of APU's coming (Probably based on the Phoenix part going into new laptops) When these APU's will appear as desktop SKU's, we just don't know. AMD have (officially) given no indication of these SKU's or a timeframe. (it is rumored however it could be late this year)
These APU's will ofc have better graphics capabilities.

Which Asus model are you looking at? If it doesn't state on the page usually it's buried somewhere in the manual.

This system is mainly going to be
Used for a media player for 4k movies. So not to sure If the new chip will have new or added codec hardware support over the old chips.

Might wait as I am not getting a 4k tv and amp until the end of the year. I have a pc that I built 15 years ago and plays movies in 1080p. I don’t know if I’ll get into pc gaming but it was just food for thought as I have a Xbox series x. And might get into pc gaming. Just wanted something that will last and play every codec and movie format going at the highest bit rate

I think the main features difference to Vega are AV1 decode/encode & 8K max resolution, but I haven't really seen any detailed write-ups.

For media playback it's completely fine, it supports decoding h.264, HEVC and even the upcoming AV1 codec:

Even then if software decoding is required I'm sure even the 7600X will handle it fine.

I would be careful because some boards say 4k 60 which is NOT 2.1

I think the confusion comes from the fact that the 2.1 standard was changed and the whole thing is now a total mess!
