Hi all,

I need some help with a build. I am replacing my aging PC, and am considering building my own using the following bare bones bundle:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-314-OK&groupid=43&catid=2502

Ideally I would like to use the A8 5600k or maybe the new Richland A8 6600k.

I am on quite a budget so need things as cheap as possible. Aiming for 8Gb RAM and a 1TB HDD.

Can anyone help speccing me the compatible components I would need.

Thanks!

If at all possible, aim for the 6700 or 6800k. They are by the best of the bunch. Depends on what you do with your computer and what you have already reall

Possibly something along these lines? Not too much money, and should run quite well. You could also try to add in an after market CPU cooler to squeeze the extra grunt from the APU, which will boost not only processing but also your graphics performance too.

The faster the ram you pair with the APU, the better performance you will achieve also.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-6800K Black Edition 4.10GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Quad Core Processor (AD680KWOHLBOX) £124.99
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1866C10DC) £59.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000524AS) HDD £49.99
1 x Asus F2A55-M LK AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £47.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK) £39.95
1 x Xigmatek Asgard Pro Gaming Case - Black £32.99
1 x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £386.99 (includes shipping : £11.75).

I am new to speccing so please wait for someone else to come and give their opinions too. You can use the Windows 8 evaluation edition for a few months for free if the money is not available for an OS straight away.

Also, the motherboard may require a bios update to support Richland, but would work straight away with a Trinity based APU (See the AMD A10-5800K)

Currently rocking a 2006 AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ (those were the days!) with 2Gb RAM and Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT. Although it was a gaming rig at the time, thats not really my requirement any longer. It would be used an everyday PC with some light gaming on the side (Minecraft, maybe some MMO's) so I figure an APU system will be well suited to this.
