Does anyone know when this new low power 1Ghz processor is going to be released? I'm speccing up a mini fileserver and can't find the processor anywhere.

It's the one from the Toms Hardware article where it beat the Intel Atom board for power usage and performance.

There is a nice looking Mini-ITX AM2 board that is just screaming for that processor :/

I think its for large OEM's only. You could ask ** if they will sell you one

It'll have to turn up in the retail channel somewhere, I think there will be a few people with uses for these processors

Why not just underclock the current CPU's?

Well the board I've seen is not rated to the 'stock' speeds, you would take the risk of the CPU straining the board pretty nastily regardless of the clock applied later...

No i mean why not use a current motherboard with a compatible chip and underclock it to 1Ghz? also reducing voltage.

Thats what I do with a E2140 in my server. It's underclocked to 960mhz @ 0.816v.
