Hello,

I purchased the above chip some time ago. Ever since then my PC sounds like a Jet Fighter.

I am looking to buy myself a more silent fan for this processor now and would like to know the number of dB that the standard fan that comes standard with the processor has.

No point buying somthing new without knowing what you are changing from.

If anyone can help me out or tell me where to find the dB of my current fan, it would be most welcome. I cant see anything written on the sticker.

Also, if it is already 30dB fan, will changing to a 23dB fan make much difference? Would anyone have a recommendation of the best reasonably priced fan for this processor?

Thanks in advance...

I think 30db is not that noisy so I reckon your fan is making noises above 30db. I wouldn't rely too much on manufacturers specs for noise level since they probably aren't too truthful about that. Go with a Zalman fan, you'll benefit from better temperatures in addition to lower noise levels.

I had the same cpu with an AC Freezer 64 and it made a massive difference in noise. Massive as in going from a screaming stock fan too a almost silent fan. That is how quiet they are. The newer Freezer 64 Pro should be even better as it uses a bigger fan. Drops the temps a good bit too. On top of all that it also directs the hot exhaust air towards the case ehxhaust fan and so straight out of the case. :D
