AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3800BVBOX) (CP-134-AM)

I'm thinking about buying this chip.....

Are they clockable? or is it just pot luck?

If you can clock them, can you do via multiples? or is it more complicated?

Cheers in advance!

They tend to clock quite well. You can expect to get at least another 400mhz without too much problem. They can't be clocked using the multi' as only the FX series has an unlocked multi'.

Nearly all will do 2.4ghz easily, with a slight increase in vcore 2.5-2.6ghz shouldn't be to much of a problem.

Just up the FSB lower the HT and run the ram on divider(depending what speed ram you have)

and increase vcore bit by bit.

oh and get some decent cooling.2.4ghz will be ok on stock cooling but any higher I would invest in an after market one.

I had planned on getting a Thermaltake case and a Blue Orb cooler :D . But how easy will the clocking be? I've already tried clocking my 2500+ a couple of times but both tries ended up with a hard bios reset. :(

BTW I was planning on 2GB of Geil Value Ram

Why bumpity bump? We answered your question. We can tell yuo how to overclock it step by step when you actually have one. Don't worry its easy.
