Ok i want to get a processor that supports ddr2 memory and this is about within my budget AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ Skt AM2. Does anyone know if this is a good processor to overclock and the stability of the overclock?

I wouldn't like to comment about the OCing potential of the AM2 version, because I don't know a thing :). However, the S939 version overclocks very well ... LINK, so I should think it will be quite a capable chip.

As above though, if you can stretch to the 4000, it would be worth it for £20. This has more cache memory than the 3800, which equates to ~200MHz on top of anything you can OC out of it compared to the 3800.

Yer, it has 1Mb per core = 2Mb in total, rather than 512Kb per core = 1Mb in total with the 3800+.

With S939, this was like the step up from the 3800 to the 4400, with the 4200 being a waste-of-time middle ground (sorry if anyones got one ;)!), which only had 200MHz extra clock but no more cache.
