AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core FX62 2.80GHz

Yeah, nobody going for the high end enthusiast chips will choose AMD at the moment so it makes sense that the price is lower to tempt some. Probably be an alright chip if you already had a kick ass AM2 setup and had some beasting cooling.
Would still be better going C2D though.

p5b deluxe problem solved, although i personally would get a 6400/6300 unless you are in dire need of the extra cache! as these overclock well past 6600 speeds (see my sig) ;)

Doesn't have 2 16xPCI-E gfx slots sadly.

If you want a pair of 16x pci-e slots then there's only the 680i based boards. Cheapest i have seen one of those is £148 though.

A lot of places are selling the FX62 either at, around or below that price at the moment. Was'nt there a thread on here about a price drop a few weeks ago. They are not being bought because a 6300 overclocked is far cheaper and will give it a whooping.

They are good chips and up until the Conroes were released they were arguably the fastest PC desktop processors

As the Conroes are significantly faster clock for clock than the AMD Athlon 64 chips they've had to slash the price to tempt people to buy it (as it's primarily sold to enthusiasts who have been buying the Core 2 chips instead)

If you want a fast AMD PC then it's a good choice - if you have all AMD kit and you want a quick upgrade then it's also a good choice

As for speed, I'd expect it to perform like a 2.2GHz Conroe or thereabouts

Why so cheap? It has to be cheaper LOL

A E6300 beats it in some cases and a E6600 whoops it.

Current crop of AMD chips arn't worth buying if your buying new. Esp with the even cheaper Allendales (E4300-E4400)

:)
