AMD Athlon X4 750K

Folks with FM2 boards who have added a decent video card might be tempted to buy them.

AMD are selling them because it is a good way to get money for CPU's with faulty internal GPU's.

It is a pretty pointless chip...

It costs 65% of what the quad core Piledriver does and performs almost as well, hardly a pointless chip really, if you just want 4 cores and overclocking as cheap as possible without going second hand then these are great, an FM2 board with one of these is the cheapest option out there.

Why would they have bought an FM2 board unless they already bought a trinity with it?
Also, why would they buy this for a dedicated GPU? CPU wise this is going to be pretty much exactly the same as the A8 which is 15 quid more expensive, you'd just go AM3+ with one of the Phenom II x4 deals.

There's 15 quid difference between this and an A8, when you want CPU performance you really don't look into FM2 unless you want the decent IGP, you'd be completely limited with CPU upgrades.

Any rational person would get a Phenom II X4 with their deals at around 60 quid with an AM3+ board.

And what if you want mATX and dont want to pay the extreme prices Intel throws out there?

My post was nothing to do with Intel.
And MATX boards come in at all prices

You'd still be better MATX AM3+ and Phenom II X4.

Find me a AM3+ 890-900 chipset mATX board :)

Edit: Just trying to point out that there are literary no mATX motherboards with those chipsets for AM3+.

Why those specific chipsets? I generally don't see your point.

Takes the Phenom II X4 and would also take an FX8350.

I just still don't see the point of this CPU, you can get a Phenom II X4 set up with board cheaper than you could the cheapest FM2 board with the Athlon FM2.

But if like you say, you're bringing up a point about chipsets, the FM2 chipsets are different, so I fail to see the point.

Its cheaper than the others and preform basicly the same as the FX-4300, and fits on mATX boards. If you already have an mATX case or want a smaller build it fits perfect if you already have discrete graphics.

Edit: Fair enough. But does it support USB3 and SATA 6gb?

It isn't cheaper than the others though because Phenom II X4's are cheaper and can get a board at the same price and be future proof for the FX8350 while also gaming just as well if not better than the FM2 Athlon.

The cheapest FM2 Athlon (Unlocked) set up would be http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-221-MS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=2399 and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-330-AM&groupid=701&catid=1967&subcat=1946

Against ; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-485-AS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=1481 and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-244-AM&groupid=701&catid=1967&subcat=1943

The Phenom II X4 set up is cheaper, and more future proof.

It supports both SATA III and USB 3.0 but the cheap MSI FM2 board doesn't.

Cheapest FM2 for USB 3.0 and SATA III is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-099-AK&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=2399

Ergo, FM2 Athlon = Pointless because the cheapest set up is hampered against the cheaper Phenom II X4 set up by quite a margin (Lack of USB 3.0/SATA III and upgrade path at the moment)
