hi
i currently have an Athlon x4 3.0ghz. a while ago it was running at 20c and its gradually been getting higher and now idles at around 58c. (currently sitting at 62c). and also theres no real room for o/c with mine even though its meant to be good for it but i think this may be down to the board.
ive been thinking about getting a new processor for a while as im quite into gaming. and think a new mb is needed aswell for O/C slightly.

so could anybody suggest a couple of processors and motherboards i would notice a difference with.

i dont have a crazy high budget either
both amd and intel recommendations welcome :)
thanks

amd fm1 socket motherboard + amd llano cpu as that will allow you to use the built-in gpu in combination with your 5770 to improve the performance. those total £160 for the cheapest ones. Or you could get a P67 motherboard + core i3/i5 cpu for about £10+ more.

Seems like a pointless upgrade if your just gaming. Wouldn't it be better to find out why your cpu is running so hot first? Maybe give you case a clean or check your airflow? You should be able to hit 3.8 on that chip with a new cpu cooler. You would probally be better picking up a new graphics card if you find your 5770 is struggling, maybe a 5850.

I have no idea why it's running so hot but my case is fine and all fans work. Unless I was getting false temps before but the actual heatsink feels walmer. Going to get a venom or h50 at somepoiny anyway. Unless my problem is my mb or psu
