Hi All,
I'm afraid I'm very new to all this and may even be posting in the wrong place, if so please excuse me.
I have an old system but then we all get old. Now I'm retired I thought I'd like to learn a little more about the workings of the system and recently learned about CPU-Z from here.
It strikes me that my CPU (as above) is not running as fast as it should - I don't mean I've "Over Clocked" it - I don't know how to do that yet; but looking at information from various things and now this CPU-Z I wonder if it is working as it should in the first place. I'm just trying to make some sense of the information to progress with. Any observations would be much appreciated:
The CPU-Z says: CPU tag:
Clocks:
Core Speed 2191.2Mhz
Multiplier X11.0
Bus speed 199.2Mhz
Rated FSB 296.4Mhz
Reading the basics on overclocking I see that the important figure is the Front side Bus. I take it from the above that my FSB is as shown at "Bus speed" 199.2Mhz; yet the "Rated" = FSB 398.4Mhz. I won't be surprised if I've totally misunderstood all this but would appreciate some explanation if anyone would be so kind.
Clearly if it is only running at half speed perhaps some one can tell me where the throttle is
My system such as it is:- Asus A7N8X-E MB. (CPU as above)
Windows XP + SP3
Gainward Gold Nvidia 7800GS+ (AGP) card 512Mb
CRT Monitor 1280X1024 @75Hz
RAM OCZ PC3200 3GB - (3X 1GB) Platinum MXTC CAS2
570w Dual fan Pro PSU
(Not that I understand all of the facts and figures I've quoted
Regards, Phil
