Not bad - Intel has cut the price of Conroe, and it's not even out yet!!

From the link to article posted earlier in the thread.

Intel has introduced drastic price-cuts for its Celeron, Pentium-4, Pentium-D and Conroe processors, which could make the price-war "quite ugly," in Walia's opinion. Intel does seem to have gained some share-back from AMD with the price cuts, but the impact on margins is negative, the analyst said.

Going to be interesting how the next 9 - 12 months pan out.

They're all just going to nuke each other from orbit, and we are the poor suckers sat typing away at Ground Zero :D

It probably wont happen, just AMD being nosey tbh

A company floated on the stock exhange has to make all its revenues and accounts available for a potential buyer to scour through, a potential buyer just has to be someone with enough money to back up an interest in a company.

Companies in a similar sector do from time to time check each other out, IMO this is all the 'interest' would be.

Although i prefer the nuke us from orbit thoery from Sirius B, its the only way to be sure ;)

for a second there, i thought you were getting all anti-AMD on us. Come on though, there's nothing to suggest that other than coincidential timing of events at this point:)
:confused:What did I say that was "anti-AMD"? And you're right, I'm speculating... as is everybody in this thread.

That's what I said.

:p :)

no, you were talking about intels income from memory. I said AMD also profit from memory more than they do cpu's.

nathanE - "They leaked this delibrately to keep their stakeholders in confident shape whilst they think up ways to counter Conroe."

Just sounds a bit harsh or 'pro-intel' that's all. dont take offensive.

well as the article suggested it would benifit the graphics market. And def. us as have a setup that is all "Amd-Ati" would give great preformance as they would be optomised. I see no harm in it happing other than pushing the industry fwd

this i belave is ggoing to happen as a regular reader of the finical times it has been saying four months that amd wheer sniffing around ati and with a did just been realised by amd on the 26 june 2006 which has estimated that each ati share is going to be bought up by £1.09 and belive me when amd whant something they get it

Stelly does anyone here you included have any reason to suggest why amd wont buy ati? i just see a lot of unreasoned scepticism.

In agreement with that mentioned earlier AMD have been "sniffing" around for quite some time now and after the release of crossfire amd boards the two companies have been working increasingly closer together.

I feel that an AMD - ATI merger could benifit us all but more importantly increase speed of current R&D possibly through shared research etc. Obviosly this is just my opinion yet i feel the merger is looking more and more likely.
