AMD/ATI or Intel/NVIDIA platform

Isn't the ATI AMD now? So I'm assuming that they would work best with each other, But if I had to choose, Intel/nVidia as for £1000 you could get a smoking computer! (Core i5 2500k, 570, 600t etc.)

Why not - AMD/Nvidia or Intel/ATI?

Seeing as ATI is a part of AMD I assumed that NVIDIA gpu's woudln't be compatible with AMD m'boards; same for ATI gpu's with Intel one's, but seeing as you're point indicates the opposite, in future I might try NVIDIA with AMD builds as I've not had great success with ATI cards.

Yep, this is the whole thing; ATI is part of AMD has been for yonks. That's why all of my five builds (not a lot by some ppl's standards...) includng the current one was based on the AMD m'board/ATI gfx-card platform, but in truth I've always experienced some basic issue even though eventually I got them up and running as such.
In future I'm going to try the Intel/nVidia platform...
