AMD B650 - how important is the motherboard QOL list?

Hey everyone,

Hopefully quick question: I'm likely to be getting a B650 board and a 7800x3D, but one thing I'm confused on is RAM.

With my current setup (Z490/8086k) I've never felt my RAM was very compatible (XMP has never worked) with my motherboard and I don't think the RAM is on the QOL list.

Now I'm a little older, I really don't have much time for messing around with my RAM, so I'm hoping for an easier experience this time.

So can I grab any 6000/CL3X RAM, or should I ensure the RAM I get is on the motherboards QOL list?

They can't possibly test every set of ram and QOL them. my suggestion is make sure the ram you're buying has an EXPO profile listed in its specs, make sure you update your BIOS to the latest and you should be fine.

As said above, I'd get EXPO RAM and update the BIOS to the latest for maximum compatibility, it makes sense to get RAM on the QVL, but if you find a good deal I wouldn't worry.

Now I'm a little older, I really don't have much time for messing around with my RAM, so I'm hoping for an easier experience this time.

You could just run at stock and buy memory specifically designed for plug and play, since the X3D CPUs are pretty indifferent to ram speed (compared to the non-X3D CPUs anyhow), but 5600 or 6000 with XMP/EXPO should be pretty widely supported by now.

I bought some Corsair Vengeance RGB EXPO 64GB (2 x 32) 6000mhz ram and at first all seemed fine using expo then kept having random crashes and wouldnt reboot kept having to clear cmos to get past orange memory check light, think they are Samsung Chips and have just read that could be part of the problem using the expo setting on my board (Asus B650e-f)
