I'm putting a cheapish rig together for a friend but I'm more than a little out of the loop when it comes to the current AMD offerings so I'm looking for a little advice as to whether the following kit would go well together:

Your basket
AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6350 Black Edition 3.90GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor £99.95

Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £86.99

TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAED38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99

Thoughts/recommendations welcome!

I think you are paying too much for the motherboard to go with that CPu.

What case, PSU, GFX card, drives does your friend have?

Thanks Stulid. Do you know if there is any kind of upgrade path on those boards/chipsets in terms of forthcoming CPUs or are they literally limited to going from say hex to octa core?

Not decided on a case as yet but for the GFX & PSU I was going with:

MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" £85.99

That said, I'm not overly impressed with the noise of my Superflower 750W and I think £86.99 is kinda steep for a 650W unit so I was considering this as an alternative. Drives would be a 128GB MX100 and a 2TB WD Green I reckon.

Many thanks. What are your thoughts on cases? He won't want anything too massive but something with decent airflow and cable management is obviously a must :)
