AMD Bulldozer Finally!

Yup it is getting interesting, but until there are independent tests its all speculation, though AMD should throw a few tempters out to their fans, being quiet about BD isnt doing them favours...

Everything I've read suggests that the indicated 5.4Ghz on that Llano is actually 2.7Ghz.

From what I gather, Llano samples have the same 'bug' as Bulldozer which means that an indicated clock speed is 2x the actual clock speed.

Hopefully,a few more Llano production samples will be leaked and we can see how good power consumption and overclocking abilities on the 32NM process will be. Llano will have 1 billion transistors. Bulldozer is estimated to have between 1 to 1.3 billion transistors although these could be totally wrong. On top of this, once the software can read the clockspeeds for Llano properly it will mean the same will happen for Bulldozer in theory. AFAIK,Llano has Turbo Core 2 and enhanced power saving functions which Bulldozer contains too.

It will be interesting to see how much more information about the Bulldozer based Trinity APU will be released in the next few months.

There is this video on youtube. It is by a competitor in the US and has egg in it ;) The Asus spokesperson says that "You can take an existing AM3 motherboard and place an upcoming AM3+ CPU in, but the VRM's and the Bios will affect the overclocking performance"

Just go on youtube and search for "ASUS AMD AM3+ 900-series Chipset Motherboards" and it is the top link ;)

that depends on the mobo vendor as you'll need a bios update to allow it to work and you won't have full use of all of the performance.

Anandtech has various Llano desktop/mobile performance articles up, seems on the desktop side the CPU is pretty meh being about the same as an Athlon X4 but the GPU is very decent.
