AMD Bulldozer Finally!

Why are some people freaking out about BD not coming out in September? I thought there had been no official date confirmed yet?

I'd advise you to think a little and to not use completely made-up and inflated statistics :)

Can you think of a single major product launch where this has been the case? No? There's a good reason.

Whilst under NDA, major system builders won't even be able to talk to large clients using anything more than vague, wishy-washy terms.

Ummm.... Sandybridge. It has been out for months, and only now is it being advertised. Saw the first advert for it yesterday.

Well you're not very observant. It was advertised for weeks before launch and the launch was known (to within a few days) several months out. Also, official preview benching priveleges were given to Anandtech months out.

AMD obviously haven't done and won't do that, but you must be barmy if you think they'll announce the thing on the same day as you can walk out of a shop with it.

Because if you don't convince yourself of a release date, you can't complain how crap AMD are when they don't have to delay........

People in this thread have convinced themselves basically since march of almost a release date every single month, then acting like its delayed, its a bit mental. Sept 19th is a completely made up date, from one date in a freaking AMD comic thing they do, which could have been for anything, and somehow its now official.

While I agree.
There's a certain point at which it becomes ridiculous... BD passed that about 2 years ago.

I mean they only announced it 6 years ago :p.

At the moment, it looks to come out either September/October.

Intel announced their work on their Tri-Gate process in 2001 and hoped to have it in products by the end of 2005 or early 2006.

It'll be March / April 2012 at the earliest before it finally sees the light of day :)

Except AMD did state 60-90 days to be able to buy in the stores, 92 days ago.
;)

And it's not an entirely made up day at all.
E-tailors that have met with AMD reps have expected it to be mid September launch from, I gather what they've been told.

but even so, theres no rule to say amd can't delay(s)/change the date, even tho amd state 60-90 days

also we have no idea whats the reasons for the delays

The wait continues, hopefully this month will finally bring us the launch, but I'm having doubts, and I stick by my performance guesses.
In a cynical way, I'm hoping that I'm wrong, and I jump from SB to AMD.

If this is not out by the end of this month, Thats me done, Wish i had gone 2500k months ago now!

Dont mind small delays, But into October is taking the ****!.
It's still not a delay as we've never seen an official launch date straight from an AMD spokesperson or press release. It is frustrating, yes, but they're hardly doing anything wrong.

How are you missing this? :p
They said 60-90 days, 92 days ago. Ergo, delay.

Hi Martin1991,

I have been following this thread for a while, but it is very long so important parts get missed. Could you please tell me who "They" are. from what your saying and how strongly your saying it, "They" means AMD?

Yeh, it was some event and AMD came out and said BD was 60-90 days.

I'm sure it was originally slated/planned as BD's launch (But that could be a false rumour)

This was AMD's slide there ;

Not the best slide I've ever seen like :p.

No its deff not fake saw the slide on the live Computex webcast from the AMD Llano event.
Well the next date on that slide is end of summer I suppose, so is that September the 22nd?
Just grabbing at random dates now as like I said before the guy wasn't overly sure which month he actually was in when he was presenting about that slide.
Not urgent to me anymore anyway, got my main system sorted so when it shows it shows.

The guy presenting it is irrelevant on whether or not he knew what month he was in as it doesn't say dates, just a day count from the day of June 1st.

That date has passed.
