AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I wasn't planning to upgrade my CPU any time soon but if I can stick a BD chip in without changing anything else and there is a practical performance increase then I might as well...
Hopefully some useful reviews will be around on release.

The Cray test system is running a pair of 8 module BD CPUs running at 1.8GHZ and deimos has 4 Xeon X7550 8 cores CPUs running at 1.99GHZ which can run 16 threads each. However both systems are running under different operating systems. The Cray is running Arch and deimos is running Ubuntu.

So amd are taking the same approach to challenge intel as they did nvidia.

This could be very interesting, multi core is the way forward and intel have been slow on this front.

AMD are really good at talk thats what conclusion Ive drawn to after hearing so much hype about bulldozer.

How long have we been hearing about this fantastic new processor and leaks and reviews etc, when it seems so effortless for intel yet Bulldozer it seems will not compete properly with the equivalent intel processor. With them delaying the release of their product so much they are also chasing faster processors that intel brings out with their new generations each time.

Maybe if they put as much effort into CPU development as they did with GPU's there wouldn't be a problem (:slight dig)
