AMD Bulldozer Finally!

wish JF-AMD would tell us the date that AMD will announce the bulldozer, llano and other architecture details so we know when to look online for the full official details.

Note the "2H" - very vague, could be any time between July and December. :/

yep, the embargo is until 14th june as stated on the slides so by then we should hopefully be given dates of when the new amd chips will be out maybe prices of boards too.

I think its a bad idea to withold this info as a lot of people will give up waiting and purchase sandy bridge but if they had a date quite a few would wait. Hardly anyone buys the current AMD chips so i doubt they'd lose much in terms of sales.

Heh, I think people are making claims for you at this point. :)

I understand a lot of the power management is done in the motherboard, yes? Does this mean that if I'd stick my B55 in, say, a 990X board, it could take advantage of the improved power management features? Or are those only for the AM3+/FM1 specific CPU chips?

Some of the power management is done in the processor, some is done at the chipset/OS level.

Right then, its decision time for me:

Can i assume that a decent gaming AMD processor (better than i7 sandy bridge) will not be release before July?

I would usually wait but im on a time constraint now as the gf wants to buy my current computer off me asap.

8130, 8110 are due June/July rumour wise. Sept there be other Bulldozers as well but lower spec than 8130.

8150* be above

lol, you'll be lucky if AMD release a better cpu than i7 sandy bridge before dec 31st 2011. It looks as though amd's will compete with pentium/i3/i5 and possibly match slower i7's.

Ah cheers, i'll try to hold on :)

The worst part is that the new chipset isn't out either, so i cant put an old AMD proccy in while i wait for the new ones >.<

No for sure dates yet, so its everyone making assumptions off rumours. If nothing gets said at E3 show though when it was initially planned for then somethings obviously delayed somewhere. I'd wait till E3 to hear whats what and if no show then consider your options (Well thats what I'm gonna do, everyones personal needs are different).

You do realize your basing that statement off a slide for the wrong architecture? The slide showing that kind of competing was for APU's (Llano) not bulldozer.
And am assuming that Key market focus means the point that AMD are focussing on to make the most sales/profit, it doesnt mean that the performance is going to be the same from an A6 series laptop to an i3 laptop (or whatever else these chips are placed in).
