AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I can wait till the end of August, it's not as if my Q9550 is struggling to play any games and it’s my birthday in August so will have more money. Plus the new intel stepping should be out about then, so I can buy which ever is best.

Anandtech are reporting that they heard the B1 chips are hitting 3.8ghz (they are awaiting confirmation however)
Makes you wonder why they are waiting for B2 chips
Well they couldn't sell them like that, with Sandy Bridge hitting 4.8 GHz, but yeah, why not show them at stock speeds?

I'm tough to avoid thinking that AMD haven't got much confidence in BD's performance.

Haha!

So no wonder July,August and September were release dates.

Funnily there is a picture of Trinity:

According to Anandtech the B1 processors are easily hitting 3.8GHZ as stated before in this thread:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4389/computex-2011-msis-x79-and-llano-motherboards

Supposedly at 3.8GHZ it did not give the performance AMD wanted!

So either Bulldozer needs very high frequencies to perform well or AMD is trying to target the lower end Sandy Bridge E processors.

It seems that Toms Hardware was correct as they talked about B0 processors only.

This should probably go in the motherboards section, but here's the pricing for the upcoming 990FX boards in Sweden. Divide by ten and you get pounds. :) Mind you, Sweden's got 25% VAT as well, so they may be slightly cheaper over here.

The funny thing is that Anandtech and xbitlabs were both saying B0 and B1 samples were hitting very low clockspeeds. However,Toms Hardware only talked about B0 samples.

It could be quite possible that the B2 stepping improves power consumption and overclocking headroom. On top of this AMD also has to make enough of the CPUs in the first place.

Is there an Intel chip comming out around Oct time? will the AMD compete with it or not?
Wanting to upgrade my i7 920@4GHZ which is now 2 years old I dont mind waiting but want to do somthing intime Skyrim and BF3.

Somehow I don't think your processor is going to be a problem for those games.

TBH,I would wait until next year to upgrade my CPU if I had a Core i7 920 at 4GHZ.

Socket 2011 will have matured by then,Bulldozer will hopefully be in full stride and Ivy Bridge will be out too.

4ghz core i7 is plenty fast enough for games!
