AMD Card price drop...?

This one JD.

I got it because at the time it was on offer of £299+ four free games and it has a three year warranty. Gotta love a three year warranty. At least if i know it breaks anytime within that year ill get a free upgrade or a like for like replacement.

OCUK have the wrong card shown in the pic though. Its this one, which is a reference pcb but its not the same pcb as the stock reference. There are two reference pcb for aib's to use afaik.

Such a gentleman (that kills erryday virtually) :D. Thank you LtMatt.

I seen your review on the link you provided and what you've said has worried me slightly. The Gigabyte I'm using now is whisper quiet even when gaming for hours it's silent. I use headphones like you but not always as I usually have a friend come and interrupt my gaming or if we're playing Pro Evo 2012 so even though I was used to whooooosh from my flashed 6950, I'd actually prefer something a bit quieter.

I seen this but it's on "This Week Only" http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-063-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938. I could phone OCUK and ask them what time they change the offer and get ordering before I get my refund for my GTX 670 which I haven't sent off yet (tomorrow). It has a non ref cooler and seems to be quiet and the only alternative is the Sapphire OC @ £349.99. If I miss the deal and there's no non reference coolers on This Week Only once it changes I could end up forking out another £20+ for the same card. I hate choices and rushed decisions :).

I'm sure you came from a 6950/70 IIRC. Is the fan noise comparable at the same speeds? (roughly).

True, but if they offered you £20, I'm sure you couldn't help but feel a bit butthurt, I know I would.

I'd wrap the card in a football sock and go hunting for the rep that offered me that :D.

The reference cooler is noisy above 50%. You can keep it at 50% or below up to around 1125. 50% is fine imo though and i dont even mind 60%. I have headphones on and block out all noise including a nagging girlfriend.

I'll be overclocking it to the most I can with reasonable sound levels. I think I'd actually put up with increased noise for 100Mhz though but if a non reference cooler can get me the high overclocks without the noise then I'd be happy to pay more. It's just knowing or finding out what the quietest cards are and then making a decision on the best pricing between them. There will be something out there that Google will find for me.

Did you buy the card knowing that you'd have to have the headphones so to avoid one nagging wifey?. :D

Do you know what time "This Week Only" changes today?.

I came from two twin frozr cards that dumped heat inside the case so i wanted a mixture of a great deal and a cooler that exhausted the heat out the back. As a result ive been able to push my cpu overclock further.
