AMD cards with DVI

Hi guys and girls, I think I'm all setup for disappointment but I'm going to ask anyway.

Does anyone know if the new Navi Amd cards will support DVI ? Either the Rx5700 or the XT.

Long story short the wife bought me a new monitor for xmas, An asus 144hz, great monitor for the money but only just found out the 144hz is only through the DVI port.

I've done some research on the active adaptors and they seem sketchy at best and pretty expensive for what they are.

I know theres one or two rtx 2060 supers that support DVI but since moving to ryzen I'm leaning to team red for most components, also pricing is a big factor.

Any info would be great. Many thanks

Does your monitor not have DisplayPort?

It does but it doesn't support 144hz that's the issue.

it sounds strange that the newer standard 'displayport' does not do 144hz but the old outdated tbh 'dvi' does ..

DisplayPort supports 144hz, the entire purpose of it is large bandwidth to get big resolutions and high data rates.

If you're not getting 144Hz as an option, try binning off the current drivers with DDU and installing fresh and see what happens. I had a quick perusal of the old interwebs and a few people have reported lack of 144Hz options with Asus monitors, and a driver refresh helped in most cases.

Sorry guys I do apologise, it's a hdmi port not a DP. The monitor in question is the Acer gn246hl.

Then use HDMI. Buy a good cable.

The hdmi on the monitor is only a 1.4.
This is why I was asking if anyone knows about navi with dvi.

Ahh yeah, you have the GN246HL, which supports only 60hz on HDMI, even if HDMI 1.4 does support 144hz. This specific monitor doesn't.
So to answer once and for all. No AMD has dropped DVI years ago. Get a HDMI/DP to DVI active cable. Not adaptor.

An active dual-link adapter is going to cost about 2/3 of what the monitor cost.

This is what I was afraid of

I might have to go for the 2060 super or a 2070 with dvi.

OK consider the big picture here. The cheapest 2060S with DVI goes for £440, that's more expensive than the far faster and cheaper 5700XT.
The significant majority of the cards do not have DVI these days and you pay for it. And possibly next year there might not be a single DVI card out there in case you need to upgrade.

Have you considered selling the monitor and buy a 5700 (non XT) and a 1080p 144hz Freesync monitor?

The Acer KG251QF is possibly one of the best budget monitors these days, and if you set it right, you get perfect picture with a price around £180 today.

dvi is old tech now. you're better off replacing the monitor. this is why wives should give cash for xmas.

I might leave it till next year, I'm running a 980ti @ 1080 144hz and it still keeps up pretty well with most games.

I just get an inch sometimes to upgrade, as far as the wife buying the monitor I chose it my self and she just bought it, I guess it's my fault really I should have done a bit more research.

Perils of mixing old and new tech unfortunately. Bought a new telly for my mother's place and went to plug in the DVD player and... wheres the SCART socket? It doesn't have one. Not sure how I'm going to break that one (more expense)

Can get an LG/Samsung/Similar DVD player with HDMI out for about £25 or so, or a Bluray player (still plays DVD's) for about £50 or so. You only get one mum, treat her to one
