amd catalyst 11.3 is out

What exactly is this 99% bug?

Basically where a gpu jumps to 99% at idle, or during no apparent stressful work.

I found a fix for it that worked for me, uninstall the drivers, then reinstall just the driver, ccc and application profiles without the hardware acceleration bug :)

Now works fine, just waiting for AMD to fix the damn 50-60% low fps issue  (where each gpu is at 60% but i get low fps, lower than with 1 card)

Away at the beginning Christmas there when I first got the 5870 I thought it was a power draw problem. Or too many devices plugged into the one line. It wasn't. You notice this more due to UAC prompts taking forever to show up. Then I saw in AMD's Overdrive app that the GPU percentage was stuck at 99%. Yet the clocks were idle.

I've also noticed if you change certain settings in the Catalyst Control Center, or whatever in Radeon Pro it'll be triggered. Yet other times it'll be fine. I can't find a pattern to it but it's annoying you have to reboot to sort it. Even logging out takes a little while when it's pegged at 99%. I would have thought logging out would have cleared it due to a stuck/triggered graphics process but it did not.

The problem is not FF its just that FF is good trigger for it.

I haven't noticed it at all since disabling Hardware Acceleration and smooth scrolling.

That's probably because when I run my graphics card overclocked, I set 2D/3D profiles in Afterburner v2.1.0 to avoid drivers switching PowerPlay on their own. That prevents 99% stuck bug from happening like at all.

Hang on a second........

Earlier today, I booted up my pc in my sig, and I knoticed it was unrresponsive...

I looked at the processes running but everything was ok.. except memory usage was up from 1gb to 3gb I could not single out what was causing it...

After a reboot it is ok. This isnt anything to do with this 99% bug is it?

Doesnt sound like it too me, but I dont have any other explanation for it.

the guys with the 99% bug , are you running msi afterburner with Unofficial Overclocking enabled?

Its nothing to do with afterburner as i have said many times already if it can go 99% on a fresh install of the OS with no other 3rd party programs installed & just the drivers then its down to the drivers.

So guys what I described here, does that sound like this 99% bug to you?

It makes sense now to me, becuase I was wondering what could be utilising 2gb of ram, when no single process was particulalry busy..., I have 2gb of vram, so im assuming it was the graphics card hogging the ram.....

First time I'v seen it tho and thats with the 11.3 drivers.

well i only get the 99% bug when running msi afterburner with Unofficial Overclocking enabled
