AMD Catalyst 11.7 WHQL

Unistalled it after a little look.

Offers nothing beneficial over just the display drivers, except introduces the possiblity to negatively impact performance through missettings.

The last time I tried the auto tune feature on my 3870x2 back in 2009, it screwed it up to the point that I lost my 60hz refresh rate. The max the card would go too even after a restore to default, was 59hz.....

Would rather not screw with my 5870.

So don't overclock via the CCC? Seriously why wouldn't you want access to forced AA/AF, video settings etc etc?

HD play back using VLC in winXP doesnt seem any different. Im still getting the odd jerk now and then and the cpu usage doesnt change if video accelaration is on or off.

EDIT: nm, it seems its VLC that does not support windows XP

"VLC 1.1.0 - released yesterday, according to CrunchGear- now features hardware decoding of H.264 video under Windows Vista and Windows 7 on Nvidia hardware and under Linux on ATI or Nvidia hardware. Sadly, users of Windows versions prior to Vista - such as the still-popular Windows XP - are left out in the cold on this one, as are those using Apple systems."

I don't get it, Catalyst maker said 11.7 was going to get Crysis 2 DX11 performance improvements, lots of hype creating for it.

It would seem that the Crysis 2 performance will come with 11.8.
Up to 10% in Crysis 2 DirectX 11 version for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on the AMD Radeon™ HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 series of product.

Blaa 11.7 is no better or worse then 11.6... So install them and maybe will stop some silly bugs you may have with 11.6. 11.6 were fine for me didn't really have any problems with them. Framerates are a little better for some games and little worse for others and I really mean a tiny change, could be 1-2 frames change +/-.

Brink performance has dropped even more. 2 x 6970 = 100fps in 11.5 to 50fps in 11.6 & now 35fps in 11.7. Way to go AMD!

Odd... I'm on 11.6 with 11.6 CAP2 and is just as good as 11.5b. Think I'll stick with 11.6 if 11.7 is like that. I'm not faffing about anymore considering I've got Brink performance back.
