AMD Catalyst™ 11.5b hotfix

tommybhoy; Don't have a clue said:
7[/B] emails to EA and 13 days later I got an activation back. I was not a happy chap with EA at the time.

Their UK support was handled for the most part in India, I believe it has since been moved to the UK (or, in the process at any rate)

Can the 11.5b's be installed 'over the top' of the 11.5's, or is it a clean install? Do you guys remove all the old CAP installations from add/remove programs?
Cheers in advance!

TW2 xfire performance much better with these, still not 100% usage though. Makes the lighting go a bit weird in places too, blobs of light everywhere.

With Xfire? I get over 100 average at max at that res with a 6990.
Forgot my Q6600 was on stock:o, @3.6GHz, average fps="60.408810" min_fps="43.107460"

When I have more time, I'll probably put it back to 4GHz and see if there is an improvement.

As I said earlier, I'm waiting for Bulldozer to put it's cards on the table then pick what I'm getting.

My Q6600 is starting to show it's age, although 43 fps minimums are not too shabby for a 3 year old cpu and mb;).

Yes, install them straight over the top, I don't remove anything.

You'll probably find that's a resounding 'yes'. I've had a look myself with everything maxed and ubersampling on and off.

I'll just post links to the screens as I don't really want to stick 2 x 3Mb screenshots in here. :p

Ubersampling On

Ubersampling Off

Edit: 6950 xfire

Mean Mr Mustard you and others may find this useful.

Indeed xfire working in Witcher 2 2x6970s had some crashing caused by TextureMemoryBudget=100 when Uber selected so i made these corrections in the User.ini file average 45 fps 1920x1080 know with these settings awesone visuals.

In your User.ini in My Documents/Witcher 2/Config, change it so that the following settings look like this:

Fullscreen=1
MaxAtlasTextureSize=4096
MaxCubeShadowCount=2
MaxCubeShadowSize=1024
MaxSpotShadowCount=3
MaxSpotShadowSize=1024
MaxTextureSize=2048
MeshDistanceScale=1.2
ShadowQuality=3
ShadowedLights=3
TextureDownscale=0
TextureMemoryBudget=1000 <--- Change to 1500 if you have the 3GB GTX 580
TextureTimeBudget=10
UberSampling=2
VSync=0

At least change TextureMemoryBudget to 1000 2GB vram or 600 if only 1GB.

Where's Shift 2? he said Shift 2 will be in the next CAP.

On Twitter 16th of May.
Today, 23:17
From CatCreator :-

makers of Shift released a patch that fixes CF support - next CAP will re-enabled CF support for this title now

Mouse lag issue will be fixed in Catalyst 11.6 (coming mid June)

For Witcher 2 - we're looking at what might be causing the light-source issues in the 11.5b hotfix - stay tuned (but patience is needed)

Witcher 2 - CF profile - looks like a driver change is needed (can't do to much with just CAP) - will let you know more info when I have it

This has really made some remarkable difference in Brink. Running with all graphic options ticked at 1920x1200, apart from vsync though I'm getting a lot of tearing. Sadly If I turn on vsync the mouse feels sluggish/heavy. Vsync on this seems to feel different on Brink than it does on Crysis 2. At least I don't have a heavy mouse on Crysis/Crysis 2 with vsync enabled.

Anyone happen to know whether this fixes having lower fps in dirt 3 in the cockpit view than the other views?
