AMD Catalyst™ Application Profiles 12.8 CAP 2

From what I had read, crossfire scaling in GW2 was abysmal before 12.8CAP2 so I had it disabled. There were reports of scaling in the range of 10%.

I have 2x HD4870 512's and I now have 100% scaling in GW2. Ex. in a populated city, 28fps -> 56fps.

On that note, a pair of 512MB HD4870's apparently have enough vram to max out GW2 at 1920x1200 and not suffer performance degradation.

Good news for GW2..

Edit: CFX performance look good now even with SuperSampling enabled:
90 - 100+ fps all maxed in town, and smooth in fight ( had no fraps launched so i was not keep the settings panel open )

( huum i will surely not enable Supersampling in PvP anyway

Usage on both gpu 85-100% ..

Max800xl;1337030051]Wow, what a difference! I have a pair of 6970s and I run at 1920x1200 everything maxed out. I used to get 30-40 fps around the center of Lion's Arch with both GPUs pegged at 99%, now after installing this CAP, in the same area, I have 55-60fps (vsync on) with 80-85% GPU usage.

I other less demanding areas, the game runs as smooth as butter at a constant 60fps regardless of what's happening on the screen.

Thanks for posting this!

Roadhog_;1337030383]New cap literally tripled my fps and crossfire works too. Not that it is needed anyways.

Don't play any of those games but updated anyway.

I'm so money supermarket, i don't even know it.

Nice regarding Guild Wars. Shows there's more there to give on the GPU front rather than the dismissive posting that it's "CPU limited".

While that may be the case these improvements would suggest there's more to give. Hopefully nVidia will follow suit.

SLI doesn't make much difference for me although 306.02 did improve it somewhat. Encouraging.

amd cards have always had more to give in gw2.

i got 60fps on a 460gtx almost constantly.

on a 7850 i get around 40-60 sometimes as low as 30 with the same settings even though its obviously a much more powerful card

Always had more? It's only just came out and finished optimisations! :p

According to Arenanet's performance graphs AMD were faster.

Is your 7850 OC'd?

Yea.. so I installed two 7950's this morning, installed the latest drivers and installed the CAP.

GW2 has one card pegged at 99% and the other sitting there doing nothing. Xfire is working as I have tested it in other titles.

AMD, don't make me regret choosing you this time....

Edit: xfire is only working full screen, well that's no good.

Edit2: Gotta disable GPU rendering in Firefox 15 or everything corrupts and it uses all the video memory. Oh AMD, you and your wacky drivers.

Report it as an issue. Why is full screen so bad?

Bear in mind GW2 is CPU dependent... crossfire probably won't make THAT much difference.

Above is an example of why you should always read before going into a multi-GPU set-up if you have particular requirements :D.

Kudos to Tommybhooooy

Stop using garbage web browsers. A little research goes a long way.

I run a Dell 30" 3008 so when I play MMO games I run it windowed so I can have stuff like IM's open, web browsers etc.. It's good for ingame downtime where you can do something else but still keep an eye on the chatlog.

It's not the end of the world. The cards run great in full screen mode, I'll give it a few days, see how I get on with it.
