AMD Catalyst™ Display legacy drivers 13.1

it's quite commendable. hopefully they'll continue to support older cards through occasional updates. even if they don't it's good they've gotten out one full driver for windows 8

cool, i thought AMD abandoned those cards?

Nope, they said they were going to do exactly this, still release drivers for legacy hardware just much less frequently.

they did say this. Good move releasing these, IMO :)

As above, I remember when their original announcement for this plan was made, and people were getting so upset over it, moaning that AMD is rubbish because it doesn't support their older products, I remember pointing out that they weren't cutting support, just making older products less of a priority so going with this sort of release instead.

Wow you are easily pleased!

No, you are just talking rubbish as usual.

You need to stop claiming that your experience is the definitive experience.

You also need to stop blaming drivers for any issue you encounter.

I told you it's not just me calling you out on the rubbish you regularly post.

honestly, i've had some driver issues with the 79xx series, and they aren't isolated to me. i'm not claiming the drivers are -crap- but there are a fair number of real problems, perhaps specific to certain configurations, that have emerged since catalyst 12.4 that a fair number of people on the internet are complaining about. when i messaged amd driver feedback, they acknowledged the existence of a number of these issues. you're attacking the wrong person; there really are some noticeable driver imperfections, and it's nothing to do with amd vs nvidia. it's not biased or incorrect to admit this - i'm sure nvidia have their problems too.

oh crap, have i inadvertently entered a personal feud? i was only referring to the words spoken in this thread. i'm so undiplomatic... .-.

i mean, i agree with you that the drivers need a bit more work, for sure. i really think it's unfair to claim otherwise. aside from the two 7970s i returned my third (and current) 7950 still has problems - just fewer problems. and i tested all cards in multiple systems so i -personally- have very good reason to believe there are driver issues, and not just the (corroborating) evidence online.

Im in the same kinda postion as you, ive had 2 7970s both same problem so its gotta be drivers but some people dont get these problems some so.

They are working on some atm which should fix a few things.

I'm not saying or even implying that you or others haven't had issues.

Weehammish just tends to post rubbish, and likes to make unsubstantiated claims that he can't really back up.

Oh no, certainly not, he just like to talk rubbish. He's been told by a number of different people that he talks rubbish.

The issue he can't see is that when he talks rubbish, people call him out on it. The tries to twist it in to a personal attack, when there's a strong correlation between his talking rubbish and him being called out.

So to reiterate, I'm not saying don't have issues, or that there are none, merely that on multiple occasions it's became obvious that weehammish doesn't actually know what he's talking about, but makes comments as if he does.

It's happened more than once where he's had an issue that he doesn't understand and can't diagnose, and it' "DRIVERS", it's the default go to for blame.

Or his personal experience = definitive experience.

One was where he was claiming that it's fact that games are smoother on nVidia than AMD.

No one would have taken issue had he said "this is weird, the games I'm playing now seem less smooth than when I had my nVidia card", but he likes to be dramatic and come out with silly things.

One user, Wolvers, proved his points wrong which he just ignores and carries on with the same rhetoric "nVidia is smoother than AMD" and implies it's for everyone despite others posting conflicting info.

So it's not a personal feud, he just talks rubbish and then gets upset when called out for talking rubbish, you think it'd make him reduce the amount of rubbish wouldn't you?

Note his comment "you are easily please" which implies that he thinks the issues he has apply for everyone, and that anyone who is "happy" with their current AMD drivers is just some gump who has low standards.

Rather than being sensible and accepting that said person is happy because they don't have the issues he has.

Finally finally amd release some legacy drivers. Shame we don't have a legacy card any more though.

I still have a 1900xt master card laying around :D.
