AMD CPU for Plex

Just out of interest - is anyone using an AMD CPU for Plex, notably, the transcoding capability.

Curious what real world performance is like, or whether I'm wasting my time and just need to use intel

I just got a Quadro P400 for my server which handles all the transcoding perfectly and can be found for about £35.

Something like a 300ge should cover you for a few 1080 streams. I’ve found adding an arc 310 to literally anything you have lying around is a great strategy.

Im using the Ryzen 7 5700G and its APU.

Transcoding is fine for my 4K vids.

Used a 2400g previously and it was fine

I don't transcode that often, but sometimes my wife streams 4k, hdr remuxes to her tablet. So it needs video, audio and tone mapping. My EPYC 7302P handles it just fine.

Intel Quicksync is fantastic though. I had an i5-11400 before and it would handle any transcoding tasks without breaking single digital CPU usage.
