AMD CPU query

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to build a fairly decent gaming rig - nothing massive only needs to play Warcraft.

Anyhow, I've decided on an AMD cpu to keep costs down and im a little unsure where to pitch my tent as it were.

Ive seen that the piledriver is the popular vote - is this mainly due to its unlocked multipliers?

I understand that the FM2 and the AM3 are different socket types (would AM3 allow for better "future proofing").

The two processors in question are:

AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU

AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+)

both around the cash value I want to spend on a cpu but not sure which to and why to get.

As always thanks in advanced.

Yes i'll be using a dedicated GPU.

Should I be worried why the FX is the one to go for or is it "best in slot" type of item.

Hi,

Thanks for the info there.

Does this mean that theres another socket technology coming form AMD, is it worth the wait or should I just settle on the FX as its best at the moment and would give some upgrade path as to a "faster" cpu if not an actual core change?

I hope that makes sense.
