The 12900k is no slouch and I doubt you'd see any meaningful improvement outside the 9800x3d.

What res do you game at...

1080p any X3D chip is king.
1440p your CPU is good but 7700/9700 and up is good
4k not any real point in changing but any AM5 cpu would be fine so 7600 up

Might as well just pop that 5090 in first and see if you're happy with the performance before spending any more money

arnt we now seeing that a 5090 is only about 10% over a 4090.
if thats even close to been right again depending on res adding an X3D would be more gains

you have to remember hahaha i main lol 5070 is 4x faster than a 4090, according to NV

Iirc 25-30% at 4k because less CPU bottleneck
