Hi,

Im new here!

I'm building an amd desktop but not sure what mobo or processor to go for,
im looking at the Amd Athlon X2 260 and im wondering if its any good?

If not, what amd processor or mobo would you go for?

Thanks in advanced!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

The 260 would be fine, you could save some money by looking at the 250 cpu.

What is the system being used for and budget?

Yeah, if you are looking at the athlon 260, I think bulldozer will probably be out of price range and a bit overkill on what you want to be doing.

Although for the guys to help you a budget and what your computer will be used for are needed ;)

EDIT:; I must have had this page open longer than I thought, only 3 replies when I clicked it :p Looks like you have grabbed everyones attention so I think you'll get the help you need ;)

budget is 150 and its just a pc for day to day use and website building.

Thank you but im buying from a specific shop and they do not stock this motherboard :(

Then that makes it more trickier as prices will be different. Perhaps you should consider buying from OcUK? I find most things are cheaper on OcUK.

Very true but i am not willing to order online as ive done that recently an received a fault motherboard and processor which was faulty, TWICE!

But from another consumer.

Sorry to hear that; just bear in mind that not all e-tailers are the same.
I've bought several hundreds of pounds worth of components from OCUK and they all worked fine.

I have just upgraded my rig using only parts from ocuk, new cpu, mobo, ram, gpu and a new case and everything is spot on,

Give em a try you might be impressed

+1 OCUKs service is second to none (and i've ordered from a fair few e-tailers during my 8 years of PC building)
