AMD details Richland improvements

Seems like they are just low power versions of trinity, Shame..

I'm not happy about this (if it's true):

Although the integrated Radeons have received only clock-speed adjustments, AMD has given them new, 8000-series model numbers.

That's going to cause confusion..

I do like the low power idea though, great for HTPC's though it'll only be noticed when under load or just doing nothing

Thanks to these improvements, AMD claims Richland consumes 17% less power than Trinity at idle and 38% less when playing 720p video. The two APUs purportedly offer comparable power consumption when browsing the web, though.

I didn't expected trinity to be replaced so soon, aren't they making most of AMD's CPU money?

Nearly 70% of AMD CPU sales are their APUs including Bobcat and Llano. Kaveri is meant to be released before the end of the year, and Jaguar in the next few months.

Re branding in the OEM channel is one thing, but re branding the same IGPU with only faster clock speed is just wrong lol.

AMD are about to launch a card that is actually based on the HD 8000 series arch but there gonna call that one the 7790!? Wtf :D

it's refinement and debugging and fixing things that were integrated into trinity but weren't active.

I agree though the igpu renaming is just so wrong.

I wish this was a 28nm test kaveri with their first attempt at hsa and gcn and steamroller cores.
Giving them time to work on it for when kaveri is supposed to make its arrival.
