Hey

I tried to play Dark souls 3 last night and instead spent 3 hours trying to fix a problem, I HATE having a PC that needs stuff fixing to be able to do the most simple of things.

So... Here is the current problem i would like you to pass your eyes over and possibly come up with some things to attempt.

I have 2 x 290x Watercooled, Both have been functioning perfectly for years.
I moved my system to a new Case and upgraded to a Skylake system because my old Mobo developed some faults.

Since they have been moved i had been able to play games as normal for about a week untill the following happened.
I Updated the Drivers and Mobo BIOS, since this one of the 290x's likes to register as doing and haveing 0C, 0% 0MHZ within afterburner.
Its as if its been disabled.

When i load Diablo 3, the first card will work as intended at its overclock of 1055mhz, yet the second will only show as running at 300Mhz so it does do something.

So one issue is that its stuck at 2D speeds in game whilst crossfire is enabled.

The second issue is that in games like the division and Dark souls 3, the second card just sits at 0% with 0C and 0MHZ as if its been disabled again, yet the crossfire settings show it not as disabled.

My PSU is more than ample enough to power them (XFX 1KW), i moved one card to a different rail anyway.
I have turned off ULPS, i have enabled overclocking without powerplay support (which doesn't work anyway).
I have tried rolling back drivers and the Bios update.

Does anyone have any ideas what i can try now? I cant really afford to loose a GPU or replace one.

I am a little lost with what to try, does anyone have any ideas?

I'd try DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and maybe installing 15.11 drivers first, see if the issue persists, then upgrade to newest Crimson.

Did you disable ULPS via registry or Afterburner? Afterburner won't work with Crimsons and you need to disable it in the registry.

I've had quite a bit of issues with any newer drivers than 15.11 lately on 295X2.

i used DDU to go from the newest driver to the one previous.

I used Afterburner to disable ULPS, but also checked in the Registry myself and made sure all was set to 0 (off).

That allowed me to play diablo 3 with second card running at 2d clocks. :/

Turns out Crossfire is broken for The Division and it set to disabled for Darksouls 3 which you cant change as there is zero support.

So looks like the issue may be the 2d clocks

Wipe out everything first by uninstalling drivers then using ddu, uninstall msi ab, then install latest crimson drivers.
Use overdrive for overclocks and do not touch msi ab ever again or until a new version working with crimson drivers exists.
Also if a new game doesnt have cf profile create custom one. Something you will have to do always if yu use old drivers like the 15.11 suggested.

its a good idea to not use AB, BUT i use it to present temps and % on my Logitech G19 keyboard :/ EDIT: Will use AIDA64 for G19 LCD.

I will give your suggestion a try and also the pre crimson drivers.
