Is it normal for the screen to go blank for during installing new graphic card drivers?

Ive just installed a HD 4870 x2 and then went onto AMD website for the latest driver and began to install, during install the screen went blank and hasnt came back on! been over 5 mins now??

You mean when it starts installing, did it restart?

Yeah im aware it flickers etc. but it has just went totally blank black screen as if it was hibernating, which its not! Am i safe to restart?

Well if the drivers are not compatible it will use windows default drivers, so i would restart at that point. If anything was installed then uninstall it, check the version of drivers supports your GPU and try again.
