How cheap do they have to become to be considered good value? For some people running highly threaded apps on a budget they might now be a better option than an I3...

It's a real shame that since Bulldozer flopped AMD have been completely disregarded.

AMD no1 cares

People who want to play games at the highest settings but don't want to pay high Intel prices care

Or those who want a low cost media center with an IGP far better than the pathetic one you get with Intel

Not relevent to the high end crowd i agree, but to average joe i wouldnt dismiss them, but i will say one thing intel is much more well known than amd to the average person on the street which counts against them.

It's true I didn't look at AMD at all this time. In the past i've put a spec or two together and for one reason or another not gone ahead with it but previously did spec an AMD system but when I compared it with what other people were doing with Intel it didn't compare, it was fractionally cheaper but no where near I don't think on performance.

And that's exactly the group of people that would benefit from AMD the most its unfortunate that Intel is so much better known and do so much advertising.

Well looking at this site Intel have CPU's from £28 not counting the TWO offer and AMD from £44. both have motherboards comparable in price £34 for AMD £36 for Intel.

so I'm not surprised that AMD find it necessary to lower prices
