http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=81429, following this guide here i installed the hotfix and the dual core driver and optimizer a few weeks ago after a fresh install, all was good until i started getting random pc lockups, and just recently stutters in bf2 etc. I do have my cpu overclocked but this can't be the problem as i have sp2004'd it etc all seems stable and i got these problems even when it was at stock, so using that guide i uninstalled all the drivers hotfixes etc and suprise suprise i get no freezes etc so far, i wont hold my breath as these have plauged me for week's popping up at random times so could still pop up at any minute. I ran 3dmark 05 and 06 as soon as i booted up without the hotfix, driver and optimizer suprise suprise i got 30 points more in 05 and 10 more in 06, fair enough this isnt a big gain at all but it brings up the question, what really is the point in this driver, optimizer and hotfix?. :confused:

i think its more of the case i installed somethings i didnt have to prehaps the dual core optimizer and hot fix conflicted or somthing?

Once upon a time I had these lockup's I changed my PSU !

im using the hiper 580w modular which should be more than enough for my spec's check them out, i have also just used the psu calculator - http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp my recommended wattage with my cpu overclocked is 500w so ive got plently of headroom

Don't use the AMD Optimiser. It does naughty things in the kernel which really it shouldn't be doing. It's a bit like installing Symantec AV and still expecting to have a stable system...

ahh well ive been using my system without the drivers optimizer etc all day today and have had absoloutly no problems what so ever like i said i won't hold my breath ill give it a few days, incidentally i was browsing my error logs from days passed and found this not sure if this had caused it and it recorded an error when it could anyway here is the list of error's;

notice how most of the errors there are amd tools hmmm

the errors were of two different types

1st - AdjustCoreTSC()
Node[ 0 ] Core[ 0 ] Cpu[ 0 ] Affinity[ 0x1 ]
Error: HalGetBusDataByOffset() failed reading north-bridge TSC.

2nd - RegisterTscDrift()
Node[ 0 ] Core[ 1 ]
Error: Thread already registered.

not sure what to make of it or wheather this was the problem
