AMD Dual core optimiser, install or not ?

i once installed it, but read some things and uninstalled it, now my friends just upgraded to dual core and needs a bit more umph for supreme commander and im unsure whether or not to install ? any clues?

I think that you should have that installed....

It helps make the RTCT or sumthing like that work better... It all about a clock and real time and it working together...

IIRC it help when a single thread program is run across the two cores... I think

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer - The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.

That doesnt actually mean anything to most of us!

I'll tell you where it made a difference (in my case) As soon as I got a dual core, Farcry stuttered massively, to the point of being unplayable. The dual core optimizer fixed that.
As I understand, it's a problem where the dual core becomes confused & switches a process rapidly from one core to the other in an inefficient manner.
My advice : If you experience no problems, don't bother with it, if you do, install it.

Are you hard at reading or something it basically says it all.

Code:
The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance

How hard is it to understand?

Yes, but it does what it says it does. Enhance performance in pc gaming and video systems. If the information is there and people read it they should know wether or not they need to install it. Thats all I am saying. This thread was about wether to install it or not and reading what it does I have to agree that its viable and worth installing if playing games. I didn't state if the op should because he should be able to make his own mind up if he wants to install it or not.

I know what Ace Modder means though.
