has anyone donwloaded this for there amd dual core cpu is says it is improves gaming performance does it really?

Stops issues with games skipping between the cores and thus removing jerky performance (aka the Benny Hill effect).

I found it helped after installing the driver, the microsoft update (have to google that now) and then editing registry

Should do, as it is AMD - they should have 64 bit drivers anyway ...

but if not the emulator will kick in most likely.
