I'm going to build myself a new rig, and I'm stuck on CPU choice.

Should I whack out £200 on a dual core 3800+, or go for the single core 3800+, at the same price?

What's the difference in speed etc? I've been out of the loop too long........

Keep seeing it noted that dual core offers a 15% increase in graphics performace due to the later drivers from Nvidia & ATI, not sure how true this is but its something to think about in deciding.

Dual-core is the "way forward"...They are better in general use from what ive read, and better at games optimised for dual core be it from release or via a patch...

Question is what will you be using your system for exactly? Gaming? Web design, or just general use? Are you overclocking etc etc? And what is the most you'll spend basically :P

Probably it is, but it's £60 or so more. I'm still deciding myself, went onto another forum and seem pro-dual core even for a HTPC.
